Spousal Support Hearing lovehurts: My husband left me for another woman and has filed a no-fault divorce. I am fighting the divorce. After he filed, I filed for spousal support. Although I have a daughter (17 yrs.) from a previous relationship, my husband and I have no children together. Our spousal support court hearing is soon approaching. Has anyone gone to a spousal support hearing? I would like to know what issues are generally discussed at the hearing? Will the judge hear any issues concerning the actual divorce? I don't know if these hearing vary according to state, but I live in PA. Please help with this because I am very nervous as the date is soon approaching, thanks!
Re: Spousal Support Hearing charmed: I'm very sorry for your situation (((hugs)))
I'm not sure if I can be of much help because my ex-h and I didn't go before the judge for the temporary hearing. We settled with our lawyers help.
We basically came to a settlement as to who would have temporary possession of the home, how much spousal support I would get, who would be responsible for debts, etc. until the final hearing.
The temporary hearing is just that - "temporary" as in putting everything in a legal binding until the final hearing. What you receive in the temporary hearing doesn't necessarily mean it's what you'll get in the final hearing, but it pretty much stayed the same for me.
I would advise talking to your lawyer and letting him know what you want and get his advice as to what you can reasonably ask for and receive.
I wish you the best ;D
